Rosie Weiss is a versatile violinist and fiddler, studio musician, and arranger. She’s currently assistant concertmaster of the Billings Symphony, and performs with the Boise Philharmonic, Palm Beach Symphony, and Bozeman Symphony. She also performs regularly in Candlelight Concerts. She’s adjunct violin faculty at Rocky Mountain College, and maintains a private violin and fiddle studio.

As an orchestral musician, she was a member of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the USA, where she served for three seasons as assistant and associate concertmaster, performing in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and other world class venues across Russia, Europe, and China. She also performed with the Orchestra of the Americas for their South American tour. Recently, she returned to Carnegie Hall with the NYO-USA All-Stars Orchestra, led by Yannick Nézet-Séguin. She has shared the stage with conductors and artists such as Valery Gergiev, Charles Dutoit, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Gerard Schwarz, Joshua Bell, Emanuel Ax, Daniil Trifonov, Leonidas Kavakos, Pinchas Zukerman, and more. 

As a chamber musician, she has spent her summers performing in festivals such as Festival Napa Valley and Zephyr International Chamber Music Festival. As a member of the Henry Mancini Institute String Quartet, she performed an original arrangement at National Sawdust in NYC, as a featured artist on the Billings Symphony Sukin Series, and across the Adirondacks. A co-founder of Zestrio (piano trio), she toured around Montana and Wyoming. And most recently, she joined Thirdspace Quartet for a full season in Boise, Idaho. Her chamber music mentors have included Jeffrey Zeigler, Scott Flavin, Jodi Levitz, and the Muir String Quartet.


As a soloist, Rosie won 1st prize in the Montana Association of Symphony Orchestra's Young Artist's Competition in both the Junior and College Divisions. As a result, she's been a guest soloist with several symphonies in Montana and Michigan. Most recently, she performed as a soloist with the Henry Mancini Orchestra, performing at Festival of the Arts BOCA and Festival Napa Valley.

As a fiddler, Rosie began playing Celtic when she was 4 years old with the Billings Ceilidh Fiddlers. She performed with them for 15 years, including tours to Scotland and Ireland. She had also won two Montana State championships in Texas style fiddling by the time she was 10. She’s been an instructor at the Montana Fiddle Camp, and has performed with Jeremy Kittel, Quinn Bachand, and Bobby Hicks. Her mentors include Alastair Fraser, Natalie MacMaster, Brian Wicklund, and Buddy Spicher. She enjoys collaborating with others to bring fiddle music to classical audiences, and classical music to small town venues and rural schools. 

As a studio musician, Rosie has recorded for artists such as Julio Reyes Copello, Kishi Bashi, and Camilo Rodriguez. She also appears on John Daversa’s Grammy award-winning album, “American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom.” 

Rosie received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami on a full-ride scholarship and a Henry Mancini Institute Fellowship.

In her free time, you can find Rosie hiking and birding in her favorite places in Idaho and Montana.
